Gastroscopy allows the esophagus, stomach and duodenum to be checked, biopsies taken and Helicobacter pylori tested with CLO test.
Before the examination, the patient must fast for at least 8 hours without consuming any solid food. He can drink water 4 hours before the exam.
The examination is carried out in an organized room after intravenous administration of drugs by an anesthesiologist of our Clinic. It is a painless and extremely safe procedure which is carried out under intoxication.
It is a short procedure where 15 minutes is enough for the doctor to examine the upper abdominal area. If he needs to take a sample for a biopsy, the examination time may be extended.
The patient must inform the doctor who has recommended the gastroscopy if they are taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs (such as aspirin, Salospir, Plavix, Xarelto, Eliquis, Pradaxa, Sintrom, Duoplavin, etc.) or drugs for Diabetes Mellitus (insulin, antidiabetic tablets) as they should to stop or replace them for some time before the examination, always according to the instructions of his doctor.
Due to the intoxication or drug addiction you will have undergone, it is advisable to have a loved one accompany you. Avoid driving or using machines. Smoking and alcohol are also not recommended for the next few hours. You can eat one hour after the procedure is completed.

Gastroscopy & Colonoscopy: 230 euros with referral EOPYY (intoxication included, gastroenterologist and anesthetist fee)
In case of taking a sample for histological examination (biopsy), an additional cost of 50 euros.
