The sun's rays penetrate the lens of the eye and are focused on the retina to cause the visual stimulus, thus activating the process of vision.<\/p>

When the lens of the eye shows the characteristic blurring, changing its color and distorting the clarity of the images, then the patient has a cataract.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The most common cause of cataracts is age, as people over 65 begin to develop them.<\/p>

In addition to this, however, other factors play a role, such as if the patient has pathologies such as Diabetes Mellitus, the taking of certain steroid medications, an injury and also hereditary origins.<\/p>

Habits such as smoking or frequent exposure to sunlight have been reported as factors that cause it.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Cataract is divided into congenital and acquired. The first category includes those born with this pathology. Acquired is when the symptoms appear after the person is born and is distinguished into:

  • Senile: When blurring of vision comes as a consequence of age.\n\n
  • Traumatic: The patient has received some trauma to the eye and has caused symptoms of this pathology.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    When a person has co-morbidities such as Diabetes Mellitus or Atopic Dermatitis they may also develop cataracts.

    Occurs as a result of some primary eye condition such as chronic anterior uveitis or high myopia<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/path><\/g><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/path><\/g><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhat is the process;<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t

    It is a few minute procedure, which is done with local anesthesia-drops and you don't feel any pain. Surgery is the only effective way to treat it and is nothing more than removing the cloudy natural lens of the eye and replacing it with a permanently implanted artificial intraocular lens (IOL).<\/p>

    It is considered one of the safest & most effective interventions in the health field.<\/p>

    The patient is awake during it without feeling any pain. It is done using a machine called phacothripsis and aims to crush and at the same time suck the lens with the cataract so that the new one can be placed in its place.<\/p>

    The total time spent in the clinic for his procedure is about two hours, after which you can go home.<\/p>

    The recovery of your vision is almost complete from the next day and you can soon return to your daily activities.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    In the morning you will take all the medicines you are already taking. In the case of anticoagulant treatment, there will be a break for 5 days before the scheduled date, with the consent of your attending physician.<\/p>


    Preoperative preparation includes taking a history and performing an electrocardiogram and biochemical testing. In addition, the operation is performed with local anesthesia (eye drops).<\/p>

    This means that you will be awake during it and you will not feel any pain. It takes an average of 10 to 20 minutes.<\/p>

    Both you and your companion should be tested for coronavirus with a rapid test within 24 hours before the operation.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
