A colonoscopy is a diagnostic test that allows the doctor to examine the inner part of the large intestine and take pieces of tissue for histological examination (biopsy) if necessary. The above control is done through a flexible thin endoscope. Diligent bowel cleansing is essential.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

This is a relatively short examination, which depending on the case can last from 15-30 minutes.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In the (2) last two days before the exam, avoid foods with a high vegetable residue such as legumes, greens, vegetables and nuts, seeds such as sesame, bran products and whole grains. On the eve of the exam, eat lightly until noon (e.g. vermicelli soup ) and from 12 noon when you start the preparation with the laxative strictly drink only liquids such as:<\/p>

Coffee or tea WITHOUT milk or cream
Clear soups (chicken broth)
Water, chamomile
Orange (blue-non-carbonated)
Lemonade<\/p>

Note that throughout the day you can consume two to three jellies without fruit.<\/p>

Natural fruit juices
Carbonated drinks
Soups with solids (rice, pasta, etc.)

Preparation with EFFECOL-PREP or FORTRANS or KLEAN-PREP<\/p>

The package of the laxative (EFFECOL-PREP or FORTRANS or KLEAN-PREP) contains 4 sachets. The content of each sachet is dissolved in 1 liter of water.<\/p>

Approximate intake of the laxative:<\/p>

1st bottle 12:00 \u2013 13:00
2nd bottle around 14:00 \u2013 15:00
3rd bottle around 17:00 \u2013 18:00
4th bottle around 19:00 \u2013 20:00<\/p>


On the day of the exam<\/span><\/p>

  • It is forbidden to take food until the examination.<\/li>
  • Three hours before the test, stop drinking liquids (not water).<\/li>
  • Please refrain from driving for the rest of the day due to taking intoxication medication.

    • If you are taking aspirin \u2013 Salospir, Plavix, Iscover or anticoagulants such as Sintrom, Xarelto, Eliquis or anti-diabetic treatment such as insulin.<\/li>
    • If you have a history of allergies (to drugs or food), a history of lung disease, heart disease or kidney disease<\/li>
    • If necessary, take preventive antibiotic treatment before the examination due to heart disease.

      It is also recommended to contact your personal physician, in case a medication needs to be discontinued or its dose changed.<\/p>

      The colonoscopy is performed by an experienced team consisting of a gastroenterologist, an anesthesiologist and a specialized nurse. Our clinic is contracted with EOPYY, so part of the amount is not paid by the patient.<\/p>

      Colonoscopy: 130 euros with EOPYY referral (intoxication included, gastroenterologist and anesthetist fee)
